LCB Educational Consulting

I am a life-long reader, progressing writer, perpetual learner, passionate teacher advocate, 32-year secondary ELA classroom teacher, instructional coach, Writing Project Teacher Consultant, PD provider, and learning lab facilitator.

I am excited to talk with you about what professional development for the changing educational landscape can be.

Why I Do What I Do

Investing in teachers is the key to improving and maintaining learning and positive professional growth.  Professional development and coaching must be grounded in beliefs and honest inquiry, building on the strong relationship between beliefs and classroom practices.  Creating strong 6-12 vertical teams is the key to success in a spiral curriculum. These core beliefs drive my work.

Services

I specialize in professional development of educators. This can take a lot of forms and varies in degree based on need, from complete conception, design and facilitation to personal and bite-size.

Below are a few examples of services I can provide, but if you do not see what you are interested in, please ask.  I love creating new experiences.

Linda played a critical role in developing and implementing lab schools in our school district. Of all the professional development I’ve been a part of, this was by far the most valuable! Linda is masterful at helping teachers grow in a positive and professional manner!

Linda Brock has 6-12 English experience that is rare:  she has taught both middle school and high school English courses for 30-plus years and has facilitated professional development for teachers at grades 6-12 for the past ten years.

Linda understands the interpersonal and organizational skills secondary-level teachers need to work effectively with students and colleagues.  As an instructional coach in a large school district, she worked with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds and with inexperienced and veteran teachers.  The experience she brings to her work in professional development makes her an expert in secondary English and in instructional strategies in literacy and language development.

It’s been my pleasure to know and work with Linda Brock as a teacher and literacy coach for over a dozen years.  She is the consummate professional.  I’ve watched first hand as Linda engaged her students in thoughtful and meaningful literacy work. I’ve admired how she worked with colleagues and lead them to new ways to teaching and learning.  From what to do tomorrow to long-term planning, she’s an inspiration to all English/language arts teachers and coaches.  I’m thrilled she is now available to all educators who will benefit from her wisdom and experience.

Ruth CulhamAuthor, multiple books on the traits of writing, The Writing Thief, Teach Writing Well, and more. Ruth also provides professional development of all kinds both nationally and internationally.

It has been my pleasure to have had the opportunity to work alongside Linda Brock for the past eleven years in various professional capacities. As both a teacher colleague and a district instructional coach, Linda is a professional whose attention to detail has made a significant impact on curriculum and instruction.

Linda has a profound knowledge of best practices and is continuously researching and staying abreast of the latest curricular information.  I have found her consistently willing to offer her assistance to teachers and other personnel in an effort to model best practices and offer her support.  She has an extensive background in providing quality educational opportunities and a profound ability to understand the skills needed to be an effective instructor.
